How Stow 'n Go Seating Makes the Chrysler Pacifica the Most Versatile Family Minivan

Stow N Go seating in a Chrysler Pacifica Minivan showing seats in all positions.

When families, retirees or business owners shop for a new minivan, interior flexibility is often just as important as horsepower, fuel economy, or technology. That's one reason the 2026 and redesigned 2027 Chrysler Pacifica continue to stand apart from the competition.

The Chrysler Pacifica remains the only minivan in America to offer available Stow 'n Go® seating in both the second and third rows, allowing the seats to fold completely into the floor without removing them. This gives drivers the ability to transform the Pacifica from a seven-passenger family vehicle into a spacious cargo hauler in just a few minutes.

Customers in Clinton, Bloomington, Decatur and Springfield have found that the seating capabilities in the Pacifica allow them to move kids to college, be the MVP of the Elementary school pick up line, or take the whole gang golfing at Clinton Country Club.

What Is Stow 'n Go® Seating?

Unlike many SUVs and competing minivans that require removing heavy seats or folding them against the front seats, Chrysler designed the Pacifica with built-in storage compartments beneath the floor.

When you don't need passenger seating, the seats fold directly into these compartments, creating a flat cargo floor. When the seats are upright, those same compartments become hidden storage bins perfect for:

  • Emergency supplies
  • Sports equipment
  • Road trip essentials
  • Blankets

This clever dual-purpose design has made Stow 'n Go® one of Chrysler's signature innovations for more than 20 years.

How to Fold the Second-Row Stow 'n Go® Seats

One of the biggest advantages of the Pacifica is how quickly the second-row captain's chairs can disappear into the floor.

The process is simple:

  1. Move the corresponding front seat forward to create clearance.
  2. Unlock and open the floor storage compartment.
  3. Fold the headrest and seatback.
  4. Pull the labeled release straps in sequence.
  5. Guide the seat into the under-floor storage bin.
  6. Close and latch the floor panel.

The result is a completely flat cargo floor without removing a single seat from the vehicle. Chrysler also provides clearly labeled pull straps and instructional labels to simplify the process.

Folding the Power Third Row on a Chrysler Pacifica

Depending on trim level, some 2026 and 2027 Pacifica models feature power-folding third-row Stow 'n Go® seats.

If that is the case, with the liftgate open and the vehicle in Park, simply press the controls located in the cargo area to:

  1. Raise the seats
  2. Fold the seatbacks
  3. Fully stow the seats into the floor

This allows owners to switch between passenger and cargo configurations with minimal effort. This arrangement allows those with limited mobility or strength to easily change the configuration of the seats.

How Much Cargo Space Does It Create?

The 2026 Chrysler Pacifica has an interior cargo volume of approximately 32.3 cubic feet behind the 3rd row, and a maximum interior cargo volume of 140.5 cubic feet and 99.5" of length behind the 1st row when the 2nd- and 3rd-row seats are stowed or removed.

That means you can comfortably haul:

  • Bicycles
  • Home improvement supplies
  • Furniture
  • Appliances
  • Strollers
  • Luggage for family vacations
  • Sports gear
  • Dogs (and probably chickens or rabbits if they need a ride to the fair...)

Many Baum Chrysler Jeep customers find that the Pacifica can provide enough versatility and cargo space to replace the occasional use of a pickup truck!

Can You Use Stow 'n Go Storage When the Seats are Up?

One feature many owners appreciate is that the floor bins remain useful even when carrying passengers.

Because the second-row seats sit above the storage compartments, you gain secure hidden storage that's out of sight.

Some ideas for using these hidden storage compartments are:

  • Laptop bags or camera equipment (especially when traveling)
  • Winter gloves
  • Change of clothing, shoes and socks
  • Umbrellas
  • Extra diapers/wipes
  • Emergency kits
  • First aid supplies
  • Medical equipment
  • Miscellaneous electronics or video games, to keep out of sight

Does Every Pacifica Have Stow 'n Go®?

Most gasoline-powered 2026 and 2027 Chrysler Pacifica models equipped with second-row captain's chairs include the available or standard Stow 'n Go® seating system depending on trim. However, there are a few important exceptions.

The 2026 Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid does not offer second-row Stow 'n Go® because the battery pack occupies the under-floor storage area. Additionally, the Pinnacle trim uses premium second-row seating that does not fold into the floor. The third-row Stow 'n Go® functionality remains available.

Do the 2027 Pacificas Still Have Stow N Go?

The 2027 Chrysler Pacifica receives an updated exterior design with new front-end styling, lighting, wheel options, and interior refinements. While the appearance has evolved, Chrysler wisely retained the proven Stow 'n Go® seating system that families have relied on for two decades.

What’s New: 2027 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan vs. 2026 Chrysler Pacifica

Shoppers looking for a new minivan are in luck – you are in the sweet spot (and very limited time) where two body style choices are available (for most trims): the 2026 Pacifica model or the redesigned exterior of the 2027 Pacifica. While each presents a slightly different front fascia and some other changed features, both are still family friendly vans that have the versatility, comfort and spaciousness that have made the Pacifica America’s most award-winning minivan. Let’s explore the styling updates and trim revisions for the 2027 model year which will help you decide between the two model years that is best for your family. Exterior Changes: Biggest difference between 2026 and 2027 Pacifica The most noticeable difference between the 2026 Pacifica and 2027 Pacifica is the redesigned front end. The new front fascia is a much bolder look, with: New vertical LED headlights An illuminated grille featuring a unique "piano key" lighting signature An illuminated Chrysler wing badge New wheel designs Additional exterior color choices These features give the van a more premium, upscale appearance, but keep in mind that these changes are only available for 2027 on the Select, Limited and Pinnacle trims. The LX trim retains the current body style for 2026. 2026 vs 2027 Pacifica Trims The 2026 trims are Select, Limited, and Pinnacle. The 2026 trims are LX (new), Select, Limited and Pinnacle. The former Voyager is now the Pacifica LX. Instead of being a separate model with a different name, the LX is the entry-level trim that still includes desirable convenience features at a lower price point. Safety & Technology Upgrades for 2027 The 2026 is a strong player in terms of standard safety and driver assistance features among minivans on the market today. However, the 2027 introduces a couple new features: Turn signal-activated Blind Spot View that displays a live camera feed on the 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen ParkSense Camera that automatically brings up camera views when parking sensors detect nearby obstacles Enhanced Safety Sphere Package with additional visibility features Parking, changing lanes and moving around in tight parking areas is a little easier with this suite of features. 2026 and 2027 Interior Features The interior of the Pacifica for both 2026 and 2027 model years focuses on seating flexibility and overall comfort for long drives and quick trips to the grocery store. Both model years feature: Class-exclusive Stow 'n Go seating and storage in both the second and third rows (power folding available on certain packages) Available seating for up to eight passengers Available FamCAM interior camera Available Uconnect Theater rear entertainment Generous 10.1-inch touchscreen Chrysler introduces a few refinements for 2027: New Blue Agave Nappa leather interior (exclusive to Pinnacle trim) Updated accent stitching Satin chrome Chrysler badging Adjustable-height power liftgate standard across the lineup The adjustable liftgate allows owners to set the maximum opening height, making it easier to use in garages with low ceilings or parking decks. For 2027, what used to be a single technology option package has now been separated for better customization. 2026 and 2027 Mechanical Features Mechanically, very little changes between model years. Both continue to offer: 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 287 horsepower Nine-speed automatic transmission Available all-wheel drive Towing capability Which Pacifica Should You Choose? The 2026 Pacifica may offer attractive incentives or remaining inventory discounts. The 2027 Pacifica is the better choice if you want: Updated exterior styling New safety camera technologies More flexible technology packages Refreshed interior finishes For many buyers, the decision comes down to whether the refreshed appearance and additional convenience features are worth choosing the newest model year.
